A prayer For Rainy Weddings

"This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24 (ESV)
Rain has a way of changing plans—and raising stress levels. Wedding professionals know that the forecast can quickly become the center of everyone's attention, filling the day with anxiety and countless "what if" conversations.
But long before the forecast was written, God knew what this day would hold.
Whether the skies are clear or the umbrellas come out, our prayer is that the couple's joy would remain steady, our teams would serve with excellence, and every challenge would become another opportunity to reflect Christ.
Take a deep breath, put your phone down for a moment, and let's pray.
Dear God,
Thank you for this day.
It turns out that you MAKE the rainy days, just like you make the sunny and beautiful ones. TODAY is the day that you have made, so shower blessings on this day, this couple and our team.
Take away all the anxiety. I know that rain on someone’s wedding day brings so much anxiety to the coordination team, the couple, vendors and guests, and so I just pray, before we even get rolling, that people would stop looking at the Weather app on their phone and refreshing every 15 minutes. Instead, let the focus today be on the couple, their love and all the ways in which their love reflects your great love story for your people.
Give today’s vendors supernatural patience, joy, and creativity. I pray that the vendors will work well together as a team as they work to produce a wedding under less than ideal circumstances. I pray that vendors would be able to come up with creative solutions to make sure the day is as comfortable as possible; that everyone would lean into being flexible and not be caught up in the rigidity of Plan A, B or C.
Step into today’s timeline and make it yours. I pray that if it does rain, that it won’t be right when we get everyone outside. Maybe it’s in your plans that the sun will peak through right when the bride and groom kiss. Maybe you’re up there manufacturing rainbows. Maybe you’re just convinced that this couple needs the most ideal photography lighting ever and all of these clouds will come together to make diffused light magic. Whatever your will, help us to keep a spirit of calm, celebration and organization today.
Oh! And I pray for safety today for travels and transitions with the weather!
Overall, I pray that the couple would not let this ruin their day, but that they will look at it as an opportunity for their big day to be even that much more memorable.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Today's Invitation
The next time you reach for the weather app, pause first.
Take one deep breath and pray, "Lord, help me trust You more than the forecast."
Then serve today's couple with confidence, knowing that God has already gone before you.
